Matthews Museum Dedicates Country Kitchen

The country kitchen exhibit at Matthews Museum was dedicated in memory of Muriel E. Kenoyer. A dedication reception was attended by members of her family, Museum Board members and members of the Union Fair Trustees.

Kenoyer was the first curator of the Museum from 1965 through 1968. Her dedication, enthusiasm and foresight formed the basis for the organization of the displays areas. She was responsible for much of the layout even as it exists today. The kitchen memorial dedication resulted from the request by Judy Grinnell of Union, a Museum Board member, on the passing of Kenoyer last winter. Grinnell led the committee of Gay Bogard of Hope, Irene Hawes of Union and Judy Gross of Bristol. They were assisted by George Gross vice-president of the Board. New showcases were built and installed, all items reorganized and displayed appropriately and the area redecorated in the period, 1900.

The Museum is supported by memberships and donations and is a tax exempt organization.
